145 Alive EventNB: this event is not organised by FPARC; it’s here as a reminder & summary of the Spring 2025 “145 Alive” nationwide amateur radio event (2m simplex / FM).

⚠️ 9th APRIL UPDATE: Final frequencies now published (click to jump to section).

This event is a good activity for those who have recently gained their Foundation licence and want a little practice in a friendly atmosphere.

For full details, see the Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/906901577214402 or the 145 Alive website.

What is 145 Alive?

145 Alive events are periodic activities intended to encourage participation on the 2m band (FM Simplex).

They’re relaxed, fun events scheduled approximately once a quarter, encouraging you to engage one or more local Nets (or further afield if your equipment allows) to be facilitated in saying hello to others in the same Net area.

Plus, 145 Alive is not a contest!

There’s no signing up required. Just spin the dial on the day and listen for your Net Controller’s invitation to identify your callsign.

Planning the Best QTH!

QTH📡

We’ve made available an article on how to Plan the Best Location for 145 Alive using a free online tool for topology, and propagation of the 2m band. Your physical location for VHF QSOs can make all the difference between crystal clear transmissions and garbled static.

So, during the event time, listen on any 2m scheduled frequency (see the Facebook group for the latest details or the table below). Each net will have a controller who will encourage listeners to identify themselves and then offer QSOs between other participants in the Net (different controllers take different approaches, but the idea is the same). You can participate in as many nets during the event as you like.

We’ll update this post with a summary of the 2m frequencies assigned to each area nearer the event time.

Due to likelihood of QRM from a nearby NET on same frequency the Devils Dyke, Near Brighton NET (IO90VW) will now be on 145.325.
