For the foreseeable future: THURSDAY EVENINGs @ 2030 (local time) 6m QSO/Net (after the club’s 2m Open Club Net).
Rough grid square: IO90 (Hampshire, West Sussex, etc) but it’s the magic band so wherever you are plus a bit of luck…
The Rough Plan
- Around 2030 UTC, Graham M0CYX will put out a call on 51.510 MHz FM (the 6m calling frequency) – vertical polarisation.
- If you’re able to respond, please do!
- We’ll QSY to an available frequency if there are several people taking part (search around 51.510 MHz in 20 kHz increments if you can’t hear us on the calling frequency).
It’s all intended as a bit of fun with some opportunities to experiment on 6m with some local friends.
Homebrew 6m Antenna
Tim G5TM shows how to get on the 6m band with a car roof, a magmount, a telescopic whip and some math. 👍
Following discussions on Friday evening at the fort we will try 6m FM and SSB on Thursday evening (5/12/24) after our 2m club net.
I will initially call on 51.510 MHz FM vertical.
I will then call on 50.130 MHz USB vertical, (depending on band activity).
On the same frequency I will then change to horizontal polarization.

Managed the SSB bit last week and enjoyed the experiment. Hardly ever used 6m before so good to try out in a friendly group of locals. CP15 Tri band white stick, base 3m AGL.
I’ll next be available on 12th December, Graham. Catch you then.
