The ‘Primary’ Event Category

When a post has more than one category, you will notice the Categories box offers you a choice of selecting the which category should be Primary.

Event posts, for example, will have more than one category selected (aka the category titled: “Event”, and the sub-category such as “Club Meeting”).

On this website, selecting a primary category has no major effect on a post’s behaviour – except in one place: when viewing an event’s post.

On the footer of an event post is a series of buttons inviting the reader what information they’d like to see next:

… the last button being to see a list of upcoming events associated with this event’s primary category.

Ah, this is where your choice of which category is to be primary begins to make sense!
