You may notice that there is a “Historic” category under the “Events” category.

You may also have noticed that a month or so after an event’s date has passed, the website automatically adds the “Historic” category to the old event.

This is a feature that helps the website promote current and approaching events (home page, related events etc) and helps avoid promoting events that have gone into our history.

Clever, huh?!

⚠️ Example: towards the bottom of most event posts is a section titled: Related Content. This section shows website information that is as closely related as possible to the post one is reading. To keep this section updated with fresh content and exclude past events, we configure the plugin to omit events categorised as Historic.

Example: Related Content excluding old / Historic events.

Need to know…

You need to know this for when you clone an old event or create a new draft from an old event (aka to post about a new, upcoming event).

The event you clone from may have the “Historic” category added… and if it does, you should remove the category from your new event so that the system can free promote your new event across the website, search engines, calendars etc.
