By default, all posts allow comments to be appended. Both club members and non-members are capable of leaving comments on a post.
Comments allow interaction and promotion of a post. Comments are validated before they appear, and you may choose to disallow comments on your post. They’re a good idea!
As the post’s author, you will receive notification if someone writes a comment on your post. You can see all submitted comments when you edit or view your posts. When editing your post, you may also review/delete/unapprove comments.
Altering Comment Settings
NB – if your Editing page doesn’t show the Discussion box (see image), try this:
- When editing something (like an event), scroll to the top of the Edit screen.
- Click the [Screen Options] tab – usually found on the top right-hand side of the screen.
- Check on the Discussion checkbox.
- Click [Screen Options] tab again to close the options.
You should now see the Discussion box.
To Disallow Comments
- Edit your post and seek the Discussion box
- Check off “Allow Comments”
To Allow Comments
- Edit your post and seek the Discussion box
- Check on “Allow Comments”
What are Trackbacks?
In the Discussion box you’ll see “Allow Trackbacks and Pingbacks”. Whenever someone using another WordPress installation (anywhere in the world) pastes a link to one of our posts, both WordPress installations tell one another about the link. If someone links to your post, your post can acknowledge that link in the comment section.
You’re advised to leave this setting on.
